About Us

"We swear, by peace and love to stand,
Heart to heart and hand in hand."

[Druid Vow - trad.]

Tamesis is a contemporary Druidry group that gathers across London to celebrate seasonal festivals. Our name, Tamesis, refers to the classical name, presumed to be of celtic origin, given to the River Thames and the deity associated with the River Thames and Thames Valley.

Tamesis provides an opportunity to experience modern druid ceremonies outdoors in the landscape of the city. Events are open to anyone interested in druidry, whether this is one of your first forays along the path or you are a seasoned practitioner. Our aim is to affirm community through experiencing and participating in these festivals. While we are not a grove that teaches how to 'be' a druid, we hope that our ceremonies and rituals will inspire your journey through the Druid Tradition.

The festivals we celebrate follow the pattern of the eightfold Wheel of the Year: four astronomical festivals marking the Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumnal Equinox and Winter Solstice plus four festivals of the land Imbolc, Beltaine, Lughnasadh and Samhuinn. While each year those festivals have precise dates, Tamesis gathers on the closest Saturday to the festival date (or at another close convenient date).
